Icelandic News   iceland

3rd October 2017

After a great start to the season in late July and most of August, a heat-wave hit Iceland with practically no rain and most rivers have had low water coupled with north winds and very bright conditions.

Rods in August had to fish long leaders and fine tippets and use very small flies to succeed.

Pictured below is Robert Miles from England who had great success fishing Laxa in Dolum mid August with Halli Eiriksson expertly guiding him for three days. Robert caught 10 x fish including a fine 23lb salmon. Quite a feat in very tough conditions.

In early-mid September Laxa in Kjos, Haffjardara and Grimsa and other west coast rivers had rain and fishing was excellent. Rivers further north also had improved fishing.

Generally catches were down a little on 2016, but everyone is expecting a good season in 2018.

We are now taking bookings for Iceland on Hafralonsa, Hitara, Grimsa, Langa, Laxa in Dolum, Laxa in Kjos, Nordura and Svalbardsa.
